Friday we poured (“placed”) the concrete for the footings and on Saturday we began stripping forms, cleaning up the footings and laying out for the wall forms. Feels good to have part of the permanent structure in-place.
With the footings down we no longer need to walk around in the water and wet clay, with soggy feet and boots that weigh a ton. Soon we’ll have stone down and can move around with even more ease.
We have reasonable expectations of having the walls formed and poured and backfilled within a couple weeks and to begin the super-insulation of the basement and super-super-insulation of the thermal storage tanks early-mid July. With the insulation in-place, we can line the storage tanks (water-proof EPDM membrane), then move on with framing.
